Characters

Characters come in all shapes, sizes and degrees of importance. Minor characters exist solely to be for the amusement of the player. Minor characters are either there to be killed by X for experience or to fill up specific functions or areas. Moderate characters are characters of decent campaign-focus. These characters have notably affected the world around them and thus may have drawn the attention of lesser characters that may join up with them for greater gain. These are the first layer of characters that are viable 'Boss' material. Superior characters are characters of high importance around which complete campaigns are created. Such characters have so much power at their command, be it political, economic or physical, that they impact a wide range of characters and often the world on a regular basis.

The Protagonist (Mega Man X)

Mega Man X is back as a playable character in Mega Man New Horizon with many new features and abilities. He was never actually fond of fighting but he is the only one who can save the people of Elysium against the dark forces that are attacking the city during this war that will in the future be referred to as the Great War of 2440. Mega Man will fight for justice and peace for not only the city of Elysium but also the whole planet New Horizon.

Ride Armors

In New Horizon Ride Armors are very useful when certain areas are impossible to cross. Ride Armors come in different sizes and with different abilities.

Support Characters

No hero is able to fight evil all by himself, and even Mega Man needs help. There are several support characters in Mega Man New Horizon, and some of them are Hubart and Dyani. Hubart is brilliant scientist by any standard. He's dabbled in all areas of science, but excels in reploid design as well as weapons and armor engineering, and has often been likened to a Blacksmith. Dyani is Hubarts daughter, and a wild child to add. She was designed to explore and catalogue the wildlife of New Horizon and Mega Man will run into her quite a lot during his travels around New Horizon. More support characters exist, and they are all there to help Mega Man X in saving the world from the Mavericks.

High Order Mavericks

Selaya, the first High Order Maverick, is the self styled Angel of Darkness, the seeming villain of our game. She's beautiful, charismatic, and certainly seems to look very much bit as evil as the average End Boss. Mega Man will run into several High Order Mavericks and many Mavericks that work for their bidding.

Mavericks

The Lion of Ziridia, Hellcry Lional is the first of our series of Mavericks. Lional is quite possibly the boldest son his nation has ever produced. A fighter of great fury, Lional had no life except for combat. To him, there was nothing more the world had to offer. During the Great War in the year 2440 several new Mavericks stood up and fought for the evil ways of Selaya.

Drones and other Enemies

There are two humanoid drones that you can run into in the streets of Elysium, the capital of New Horizon. These drones only come in two flavors, the red called Ranged Drones, and the blue called Melee Drones. Red are the projectile attackers, and blue are melee. Besides these two types of humanoid drones there are also many other drones that are not humanoid but just as dangerous to our hero Mega Man X.

Miscellaneous Items & Objects

New Horizon soldiers, different spacecrafts and other miscellaneous items are placed under this category.

We haven't really planned out all the other minions of the High Order, but we were planning considerably larger diversity than that seen in the Zero series as far as enemies. We have a few ideas, but one nice thing about this game, is the native life forms are considerably hardier than earthly life forms, and many are partially silicone based, which makes reploids an extra tasty treat...

Grenzenlos

Ranged Drone

This is the 1st standard New Horizon drone. These drones will appear frequently in the game and they will do their best to slow Mega Man down.

Melee Drone

This is the 2nd standard New Horizon drone. These drones will appear frequently in the game and they will do their best to slow Mega Man down. The Melee Drone is of a similar size as the red Ranged Drone. The Melee Drone is blue in colours, and even if it looks similar to the Ranged Drone it is not identical. The Melee Drone is in fact a more beefed-up version of the Ranged Drone.

The Elektroskivers are dangerous drones that are usually found in pairs. The first one is usually on the ground and the second one is on the ceiling just above the first one. Then they toss laser beam to each other.

Drop daBomb Sprite Sheet

The Drop daBomb drone is a bomb-dropping crane-like machine. It's mounted on the ceiling. The drone has + and - signs, and X has to shoot the + sign to make the drone pull back up (or down) into the crevasse where it come from and self-destructs harmlessly. While shooting the - sign the drone will fall and/or explode and shoot out a crevasse, blocking X's path and hurting him in the process. The Drop daBomb spins around, and X has to time it right and shoot it when the + sign is visible. For harder levels the drone will be smaller, spin faster, and would ascend and descend to make it harder for X to hit it.

Nitro Cannon Sprite Sheet

The Nitro Cannon is something of a side-scrolling level drone. The Nitro Cannon's mission is to hinder X's progress through the level. It fires in several directions (depending on where it's cannons are pointing), and the only way to take it out quickly is to fire a few shots at the orange liquid tank. The tank is flammable and will explode when hit, but if you don't do it fast enough then you'll get caught in the explosion and lose health.

Vector

A giant robot mid-boss that is spreading the Maverick virus.

Vector is a mysterious and elusive robot that doesn't bear the markings of the High Order, or any other known organization, and merely appears almost at random to stare X down, and attempts to communicate with X in a way which causes X severe pain in his head, than when X invariably fails to understand him, Vector attacks, and proves to be a very powerful foe indeed.

Every time X fights Vector, he appears to grow just a little bit stronger, as if he's learning from each fight. Who is this mysterious Robot, and why does he hound X?

Core Stealers

The Core Stealers aren't actually in the game, but are going to be referenced by some characters. The last war in New Horizon involved a new type of reploid that had an entirely different system architecture, highly immune to any form of virus which could spawn any behavior modifications.

They absorb the DNA Soul core of any reploid infected with a virus, and break it down, extracting useful programming to improve their own strength speed and durability, and eliminating the affected reploid entirely. Because of their affinity for DNA Souls, they can link up to a reploid by making contact using one of their eyes to force any reploid they've locked eyes with to be truthful. What happened to these guys, though, that's a secret for now!
