Download MegaMan New Horizon for GameBoy Advance

2006-08-14:

First we planned on releasing our demo on April 14th. Unfortunately we ran into some technical problems and the demo was therefore slightly delayed. However, these technical problems have now been solved and the demo if finally finished. It's been a lot of work, years actually since we first started. We put down an enormous amount of time and effort to create the story behind New Horizon, to create the graphics, the music and last but not least, to program it all for the Gameboy Advance. And now, on August 14th, we have for the first time uploaded our Megaman New Horizon demo to this download-page for everyone to see. You are most welcome to download it and try it out.

REQUIREMENTS: Visual Boy Advance Emulator

The demo is runnable in VisualBoy Advance, a popular Gameboy Advance emulator, because the game (the original version, not the debug version) is fully compatible with the GBA hardware.

To download the GBA emulator called VisualBoy Advance, go to this webpage: VisualBoy Advance. Click on the downloads link and choose the latest version of the emulator for Windows, (2008-04-28, VisualBoy Advance, version 1.7.2).

RESTRICTIONS:

Remember that you should only use the Game Boy Advance emulator to view our game demo. Using emulators to play illegally copied Nintendo software hurts Nintendo's goodwill, and is in fact illegal. You can read more about this at: http://www.nintendo.com/.

We (Realms of Alternity) use GBA emulators for development purposes only!

To our knowledge, Capcom allow their fans to use their trademarks (such as Mega Man) for none-profitable purposes. The Megaman New Horizon GBA project is a fan-based project developed for free and without receiving any form of revenue.

DON'T PLAY THE GAME DIRECTLY FROM THE ZIP-FILE! This is known to cause unexplainable errors in the game. Unzip the game first before playing...

NewHorizon version 0.4.635, without music, (updated: 2006-08-30, + mini-game)
(size of zip: 1.87 MB, size of demo: 3.35 MB)

The music takes up a lot of space and it takes a lot of time to compile. Therefore, we will also provide a demo without music where "bugs" and other problems are being fixed on a regular basis. The demo containing music will thus only be updated once in a while.

NewHorizon version 0.4.635, with music, (updated: 2006-08-30, + mini-game)
(size of zip: 5.80 MB, size of demo: 10.6 MB)

NewHorizon version 0.4.632

The forth demo was released on August 14th 2006. The Intro Cinema was complete, and new music had been added. This demo was much larger then any of the previous demos, containing a full stage. You start out as Mega Man X in a laboratory in the city Elysium, the capital of New Horizon. When you walked through the corridors of the laboratory, pass several scientists and guards, until you finally reached a teleportation room that took you outside.

X then stepped out onto the streets of Elysium that were filled with enemy soldiers; the city under heavy war. Your task was to go through this enormous stage and reach the Command Center at its end. Enemy droids of different kind stood in your way. When you finally after heavy battle reached the Command Center, you had to go though the several levels that it contained, to reach the command room and get the news updates that you needed. The demo ended with Lional Hellcry teleporting in and causing some damage.

In this demo you were given full control over Mega Man X. He could dash, run, jump, shoot and wall kick, wall slide, climb ladders and teleport. You were also able to shoot and damage droids, and receive damage as well. Some details still needed to be fixed of course, but other than that this was a full scale Mega Man stage.

NewHorizon version 0.2.508

The third demo was released on March 3rd 2005. Some new tunes were added, as well as sound effects when pressing the "start" button. The Intro Cinema was almost completed, containing 28 screens with only 4 screens that were not yet coloured. After the long Intro Cinema, the game entered a playable stage (a single room actually) where the player was given some minor control over Mega Man.

NewHorizon version 0.0.422

The second demo was released on May 24th 2004. Music was added to both the Intro Stage, Intro Cinema and the credits. The Intro Cinema now contained 12 screens. The game was still only in cinema mode and not yet playable.

NewHorizon version 0.0.412

The first demo was released on March 15th 2004. It was a very small demo, and after the Start Screen it continued with a 5 screen Intro Cinema. After the Intro Cinema, credits were shown. No music was yet available and the Game Engine was still in its infant stage.
