New Horizon Sprite Contest: Mavericks Gone Wild

Mavericks

The Immaculate Order is the anti-faction of New Horizon, a group of renegade factionists and anarchists bent on overthrowing Elysium and any other faction who stand in their way. The Immaculate Order consist of Selaya, the self styled Angel of Darkness and 9 different Mavericks; Angler Gloomfish, Blazing Arachnafemme, Neddler Squito, Odium Jabberwock, Hellcry Lional, Frigid Shrike, Seismic Ramhorn, Gale Scorpio, and last but not least Interweb Computurtle.

The Winners

We have finally received the results from the judging. I would personally like to award everyone but unfortunately that is not possible. Each and every one of you did an amazing job though. The winners are:

1st place

The first place goes to TheBOB, for the amazing work he did on his sprites. I personally think they are too big, but to compensate for that they are extremely well pixeled. Each sprite has less than 16 colors, very professional. The style and pose is original. The shading is very well done and the colors perfectly selected. As a spriter myself I can only admit that TheBOB put more than a little effort into these sprites and he did a truly amazing job! These sprites are absolutely beautiful! The 150 USD are yours!

2nd place

In second place came Ndraxian0. His sprites have very nice colors. The poses could need more work, but they are at least original and that gave these sprites some extra points. A wonderful job was done by Ndraxian0, if I am say it myself. Very well done! The 100 USD are yours!

3rd place

Third place is shared between Ifer and Hadrian. The coloring was made extremely well, but they lost some points since most of these sprites were made using Eriance's art as a base. Other more original poses would have given these sprites more points. These sprites are beautiful nonetheless. Well done! Each of you will receive 50 USD each!

Normally this would be it, but I personally liked System928's Computurtle sprites so much that I decided to award him with 25 USD! The colors you chose for this sprite makes it look as if it was taken from a Capcom game directly! Well done!

The Maverick Sprite Contest

Our previous contest, the Imagine Oberon art contest, brought some Mega Man fans a bit closer to our MMNH fan interaction, but that's only true for those people who have a talent for drawing. Now we've decided to bring Mega Man spriters into the loop as well.

To that end, we've created this sprite contest, where we're inviting fans of all ages and talent levels to create sprites based on our own maverick reploids.

During this contest you will be shown between 4-10 different maverick reploid drawings taken from the Mega Man New Horizon game. Some of these maverick reploids are shown at the Immaculate Order page while the rest of them will be added there later on. The sprite contest is about creating at least 4 sprites from the selection of maverick reploids drawings. You have to make your sprites as identical to these drawings as possible. Your sprites will be judged after their style and pose, selection of colors, and overall quality.

JPG-dithering and sprite-remakes will not be accepted and disqualified on sight.

Color limitation: maximum 32 colors per sprite!

Size: keep it proportional, if you put the MMNH sprite version of Mega Man X next to your sprite then your sprite must be proportional to X.

Judges

Lysekoid and Grenzenlos will NOT be judging this contest, and neither will anyone else that's part of the MMNH staff. We will find an external judge who will judge all the entries. The best 3 contestants who create the best 4 Maverick sprites will win.

No MMNH-staff members will have any influence on which sprites will win the contest. We therefore allow all people to participate in this contest, even MMNH-staff members.

Contest deadline: Friday, November 30th.

Awards

The winner, and his two closest peers, shall be rewarded with something every person can use, Cold Hard Cash, as well as guest appearances by any fan character they might have in our game.

1st place shall receive $150.00 in American currency.

2nd place shall receive $100.00 in American currency.

3rd place shall receive $50.00 in American currency.

We prefer using Paypal when giving away money, so if you don't have Paypal then it's about time you think about setting up an account. It's free. But if you can't then contact Lysekoid and we'll try another way.

The winning sprite or sprites may be used in the MMNH game.

Lastly and most importantly, all entries will be archived for display on our web-site by author name, for future posterity.
